Luftwaffe attacks during the Battle of Britain left the RAF on the point of collapse. Then Hermann Goring ordered the Luftwaffe to target other towns and cities, which gave the RAF time to repair its planes. The Blitz had started. The Luftwaffe made 127 night raids on Britain. The attacks were designed to destroy important buildings, and damage morale.
